Hello! I’m Genessa,

I help midlife folks
RESTORE BALANCE—
physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually.

From a young age, I have always been drawn to the forest.

I grew up picking berries, climbing trees, tracking animals and building forts. It’s a place where I never worried about not “being enough”—a limiting belief I learned from being abandoned by my father at the age of four.

During my teenage and early adult years, I lost myself trying to fit into the social mold of how a woman “should” behave. I tried to be like other popular and competitive girls. I gave up time in nature to study and “get ahead in life” (I was the first of my family to go to college). I struggled to know my true self and I didn’t know how to tap into my intuition.

Over several decades, I had many opportunities to develop this inner knowing through my journey of living with chronic pain and an undiagnosed autoimmune disease. I became invested in learning about the connection between mind, body, and spirit, and how various cultures approach disease and healing.

Through my study of yoga, meditation and energy healing, I learned tools and strategies to living life through a holistic approach, and started to heal childhood wounds, co-dependent relationships, and restore work-life balance.

During my late 30’s, I experienced irregular and painful periods and suffered from the heartbreak of infertility due to an early transition into menopause. I felt the confusion, silence and shame that many women often experience during this powerful phase of life. However, I've found empowerment and healing in the company of others and through the potency of simple daily rituals—many stemming from my Irish and Lithuanian roots, which value the healing power of plants and nature.

During this time, the plants began calling to me, and I slowly began rebuilding my relationship to them through hiking, gardening and drinking herbal teas. I eventually answered the call to formally study herbalism, tapping into my childhood love of plants on a whole new level.

The Mother Hive’s mission is to empower people to approach wellness though a holistic lens. We support their physical, emotional, mental & spiritual well-being through herbal education, coaching support, and community building events.

“The most important lesson I've learned is how important it is to not lose yourself, to not get too caught up in anything, but to focus on what’s in your heart, what makes you you and what keeps you mentally, physically and spiritually healthy.”
